Tackle pool and spa leaks head-on with the American Granby FIX-A-LEAK FAL8, a concentrated 8-ounce sealant that bonds to nearly any surface including concrete, fiberglass, PVC, and vinyl. This compact bottle packs the same powerful formula found in the larger size, sealing cracks and gaps up to 1/8 inch in diameter in both pool shells and plumbing lines. One quart treats pools up to 22,000 gallons, making the 8-ounce size ideal for spas, small pools, or targeted spot treatments. Adhere to the directions below and provide adequate cure time for a durable, long-lasting repair.
Key Benefits
- Concentrated Multi-Material Sealant: The FAL8 formula grips concrete, fiberglass, PVC, vinyl, and other pool construction materials, providing a single product for a wide range of leak situations.
- Handles Shells and Plumbing: Whether the leak originates in the pool wall or a buried pipe, this 8-ounce sealant can close openings up to 1/8 inch across, addressing both surface and subsurface water loss.
- Rock-Solid Cured Repair: After full hardening, the sealed area resists ongoing water pressure, pool chemicals, and temperature changes, producing a fix that endures through heavy use.
- Straightforward Pool-Side Application: Pour it into the skimmer while the pump runs and let the circulating water carry it to the leak. One quart covers pools up to 22,000 gallons, so scale the 8-ounce bottle to your water volume.
- Reliable Results with Patience: Giving the sealant a full 24 to 48 hours to cure after the water level stabilizes produces the strongest, most dependable bond.
Specifications
- Brand: American Granby
- Part Number: FAL8
- Suction Line Leaks:
- After sealing a suction leak "it" is a must to leave suction off the repaired line for no less than 48 hrs. FIX-A-LEAK requires time to cure and harden.
Usage Directions
- Before adding FIX-A-LEAK, bypass all filter media. On sand filters, rotate the multiport valve to recirculate. On cartridge or DE filters, remove the internal elements and circulate water through the empty filter housing.
- While the pump is running, introduce FIX-A-LEAK slowly through the skimmer or in front of any other active suction port.
- After the product enters the system, shift suction to the main drain. If a main drain valve is unavailable, drop a vacuum head into the deepest area of the pool, attach it to the standard vacuum line, and set the multiport to the normal vacuuming position.
- Because FIX-A-LEAK is dense, it sinks to the bottom quickly. Agitate it back into the water column every 4-6 hours using a pool broom or an automatic cleaner running during the circulation cycle.
- Maintain continuous circulation until the leak ceases.
- Mark the water line on the pool wall and observe it over 2-3 days to verify the repair is holding.
- Once the leak has stopped and 24-48 hours of curing have elapsed, resume standard filtration. Sand filter owners should switch back to the filter setting and backwash out residual product as needed. Cartridge and DE filter owners should reinstall their elements and rinse off any remaining material. Do not let cartridges or DE grids dry before they are cleaned.
- Repeat the treatment if necessary.
